U.S. Army Reserve Center
The County is in the process of receiving the George L. Richey USAR Center ("Richey Army Base") from the Federal Surplus Real and Related Property program as a no-cost Public Benefit Conveyance (PBC). The PBC will deed restrict the site for uses that benefit the public. In the case of the Richey site, the site is restricted to law enforcement and emergency management uses.
Currently the site is planned for use as a regional Emergency Vehicle Operator Course (EVOC), an Emergency Operations Center (EOC), and Sheriff training vehicle storage area.
Should the County decide to use the site for other purposes, the County would be subject to possible purchase of the site at market value. The U.S. Government has the 8.7 acre site valued at approximately $12-$15 million.
