Capital Planning, Design & Construction
The Facility Planning, Design & Construction Division supports County departmental growth, through extensive collaboration, to determine short and long-term goals. Staff walks an agency/department through the process and assists Planning on next steps. In addition, they assist with the various phases of major and minor capital construction projects, which include new construction, expansion, renovation, building improvements, facility space alterations, equipment installations, major repairs, ADA improvements, utilities upgrades, emergency power, or HVAC system upgrades.
Our staff of Planners, Architects, Engineers, Project Managers, Inspectors and Administrative staff are experts at managing the myriad of details that make a facility project successful.
To ensure compliance with the County’s sustainability policies, we have a Sustainability team within FAF. Their team assists, as we design and build in an environmentally responsible way.
The following FAF facilities have being certified by the United States Green Building Council:
- Crime Laboratory, LEED BD+C Gold
- Valley Health Center Milpitas, LEED BD+C Certified
- Valley Health Center Downtown San Jose, LEED BD+C Gold
- Valley Medical Center Receiving & Intake Center, On track for LEED BD+C Gold
